Largo, Fla. — Franchise wall bed retailer More Space Place, based here, has opened seven stores in the first quarter of 2005, in San Antonio, Dallas, Chicago, Gainesville, Fla., Charleston and Greenville, S.C.; and Rehobeth Beach, Del.
The new units, in the 1,800- to 3,500- square-foot range, boost More Space Place's store count to 33 nationwide. In addition to wall beds, the stores sell entertainment centers, home office furniture and space-saving systems for the closet, pantry and garage.
"The chain is in the midst of an aggressive national growth strategy through franchising, and has built the infrastructure to add between 10 to 15 stores a year for the next two years," said Clark Williams, president of More Space Place, which was founded in 1989.
"By 2007, we anticipate adding between 15 to 20 units per year until we have expanded into every viable market nationally."
He sees a potential for 160 to 175 stores, generally in cities of over 200,000 people, marketing to owners of newly built, remodeled and vacation homes.
