Griest leaves president's post at Century's Expressions
Carole Sloan -- Furniture Today, April 10, 2005
High Point — Ronna Griest, who was president of the Expressions Custom Furniture and Passementerie upholstered furniture units of Century Furniture, has left the company.
Expressions is not introducing new product at the market here this week, said Bob Maricich, Century's president.
Expressions and Passementerie will continue as lines within the company's Highland House division, whose president is Tom Staats.
Expressions remains a contemporary niche upholstered business, Maricich said. There are nine dedicated, dealer-owned Expressions stores, and a number of other stocking dealers.
"We need to get our hands around the business regarding profitability. We need to streamline the process from the factory to the store," he said. "We have changed our structure from franchises (in Expressions) to dealers. Our primary goal is to get the cost structure in line."
He said Griest "is a very talented person."
She first worked for Expressions for 16 years, then left in 1996 to join fabric supplier Covington. She rejoined Expressions in 2000.
