Wool group adds focus

Shanghai, China — The International Wool Textile Organization, a trade group that traditionally has focused on apparel, now plans to place strong emphasis on interior textiles.
IWTO has launched an interior textiles committee, which met for the first time during the Wool Forum in Shanghai in November.
Nick Nicholson of New Zealand is the first chairman of the committee, which covers the upholstery, carpet, bedding, hand knitting and transportation segments.
The group sponsored a Wool Showcase at the January Heimtextil show in Frankfurt, Germany, where companies in the wool sector presented the latest developments in wool for interior textiles.
In addition, the committee will undertake global market research in all its categories and provide recommendations.
IWTO represents the interests of the world's wool textile trade and industry. Its multi-national membership includes wool growers, traders, primary processors, spinners, weavers and manufacturers, together with retailers and other companies involved in wool-related businesses.
