Crawford moves to Market on Green space
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 10, 2005
Jamestown, N.Y. — Solid-wood case goods manufacturer Crawford Furniture has moved from its longtime Furniture Plaza showroom in High Point to space 402 of Market on Green for April market.
While slightly smaller than its old space at 7,200 square feet, the new showroom is brightly lit with windows and should generate more traffic, said Peter Cardinale, national sales manager.
"Where we were is now almost all upholstery," he said. "We expect to get more walk-in traffic and more prospective customers in the new location. It's more user-friendly, with the buyer-hospitality services on the first floor of the building."
This move corresponds to Crawford's efforts to raise its company profile and revamp the line with fresher products. The 122-year-old, all-domestic manufacturer produces solid-wood bedroom, dining and occasional in northern oak, maple, cherry and ash hardwoods with hand-rubbed 14- to 16-step finishes. The entire line is inventoried for immediate shipment.
Cardinale said that while Crawford will update its styling, the line will retain features such as solid, dovetailed sides with finished drawer interiors; wood dust covers and finished backs; case bleaching; wood on wood or steel ball-bearing drawer guides; and mortise-and-tenon joinery.
