IHFRA offers range of market services

High Point — The International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. will offer services ranging from pager rentals to legal help at the April market here.

IHFRA's office in the International Home Furnishings Center, M001, lower level, will be open starting Monday, April 11, to offer assistance to reps and manufacturers. The association will welcome its new executive director, Kathy Parks, at an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.

For information or to schedule appointments for most services, call the IHFRA office at (336) 889-3920. Available services include:

• Legal counsel, with an attorney available on Monday, April 18, beginning at 1 p.m. with the last appointment at 4:30 p.m.

• Copy and fax services.

• An opportunity center, allowing manufacturers to search for reps and reps to find available lines and territories. Reps also may provide resumes to keep on file for interested manufacturers.

• Investment advice, with Richard Malloy of Wachovia Securities available by appointment to discuss the IHFRA SEP-IRA program and other investments. Call (800) 659-6500.

• Benefit information, such hotel and rental car discounts.

• Insurance information. Scott Leander will be available during market, most likely April 11–13, to discuss health, dental, disability and long-term care insurance. Or call him at (800) 819-2737 for a quote. Regarding general liability and property insurance, Steve Wisocky of the Home Furnishings Insurance Group will be in the National Home Furnishings Assn. Retailer Resource Center in the IHFC, 12th floor Main, during market, or call him at (800) 873-4344.

• Pagers may be rented for $39.95 for the entire market. Information is available from the IHFRA office or the organization's Web site at www.ihfra.org.

• Furniture/Today subscriptions may be renewed during April (until April 29) at a discount.

• Web site development information is available. Reps can have their own Web sites for a monthly fee.

• Showroom Solutions, a software program, can help reps track sales from start to finish. History, customer and product data can be imported from Know-It. For information, contact the IHFRA office or (877) 435-3225, extension 2.

The association also will host market social events including the IHFRA-NHFA Furniture Industry Awards Gala in the IHFC Ballroom the evening of Thursday, April 14; the Tri-State High Point Market Social, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the IHFC 11th floor Green wing, High Point B & C rooms; and the Monday Night Social, 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 18, in the IHFC Ballroom.
