Magnussen reorganizes product team
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 12, 2005
At the Market — Case goods and occasional importer Magnussen Home Furnishings says it has reorganized its product development and merchandising team the way a retailer would.
The move is intended to help the company hit targeted market segments, track emerging trends and meet retailer needs.
"Our merchandise/product managers are involved in every aspect of a product's life cycle," said Richard Olmeda, senior vice president.
"With this comprehensive approach, the team will better understand the needs and opportunities of each product offering from the retailers' point of view. This will ensure the strategic alignment of our product offerings with the major retail market drivers we are privileged to service," Olmeda said.
"We have set very aggressive goals for our company, and our continued growth requires not only product leadership (and) operational excellence, but a customer intimacy discipline above all else."
Olmeda heads the team. Nathan Cressman, director of merchandising, determines target markets, product style categories and retail price points, and reports to Olmeda.
Reporting to Cressman are Karen Knoch, merchandise manager for occasional tables/accents, and Pat Watson, who has been promoted to product development manager.
Also on the team are Jon Witteveen and Brittany Vance.
Witteveen has been named merchandising coordinator for case goods and reports to Cressman. He will oversee details including costing and construction information for case goods, working with suppliers, designers and customers.
Vance, reporting to Knoch, has been named merchandising coordinator for accents and licensed collections. She will oversee production details including costing and construction information for accents and licensed collections, and also collaborates with suppliers, designers and customers.
The merchandise/product managers will work with retailers and the Magnussen Home sales team to identify products and programs.
