Wristbands back cancer research
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 12, 2005
At the Market — Marty Libowsky, a sales representative for Powell Co. and Progressive Furniture and head of the industry charity 100 Angels Foundation, is spearheading a drive to sell wristbands to raise funds for cancer research.
Proceeds from the sale of the Conquer Cancer Now! wristbands, available for a suggested minimum donation of $1, will go to the Concern Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1968 to fund cancer researchers around the world. The foundation currently funds 55 scientists researching 13 types of cancers.
"I'm proud to have this opportunity to raise funds and bring awareness of the Concern Foundation to the furniture market in High Point," said Libowsky. "Concern Foundation is an important organization when it comes to providing funds for cancer research, and 95 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to the intended research."
Wristbands are available for purchase at the Powell Co. showroom in the National Furniture Mart, space 100, and in the Progressive Furniture showroom on the fourth floor of Plaza Suites. Libowsky can be reached by cell phone at (205) 368-4815.
He said anyone interested in purchasing a large quantity of the wristbands for their employees may contact the Concern Foundation at info@concernfoundation.org or by phone at (800) 867-2279.
