Tempur-Pedic goes stylish with EuroBed

High Point — Memory foam leader Tempur-Pedic looked abroad for inspiration for a sleep set it debuted here. The EuroBed is based on a design it launched in Europe last year.

David Fogg, president of the company's retail division, said the bed was "very well received" at market. "People loved it. Most majors will put it on as their fourth SKU" from Tempur-Pedic.

The bed features a quilted cover, a first for the company in the United States, and is framed with a microfiber suede in a darker color that contrasts with the lighter ticking.

The sides of the mattress and the foundation also are covered in the suede.

Tempur-Pedic called the new bed, which will retail above $2,000, its most stylish offering to date.

"We recognize how important design elements are becoming in the bedroom," said Dany Sfeir, senior vice president of marketing. "The modern style of the EuroBed is something previously unseen in the mattress industry."

The model will be priced between the company's Deluxe model, retailing at $2,399, and the Celebrity bed, which retails at $3,299.

The EuroBed will roll out at retail in June, the company said. The design first was introduced in Europe late last year to "rave reviews," the company said.

Fogg said the foam in the mattress top features a different formulation from other Tempur-Pedic beds. The bed has a high-profile platform foundation.

Tempur-Pedic also expanded its pillow line with the introduction of BodyPillow, designed to provide extra stability and support to the hips, knees and back.

The pillow, which retails for $150, is ideal for those who prefer to sleep on their sides, the company said.
