Toronto mini-market set for June 21–23

Toronto — A small group of manufacturers with permanent showrooms in and around the International Center here will hold a three-day mini-market June 21–23.
The Toronto Summer Furniture Show is being organized by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn. and co-sponsored by Cantrex Group, which plans to hold member merchandising meetings during the market.
Lisa Tweedy, director of corporate marketing for Sklar Peppler and chairperson of the show steering committee, said the event is mainly for independent retailers.
Kicking off the show will be the OFMA's annual gala honoring the Retailer of the Year. The 2005 recipient is Mark Dufresne, president and CEO of the Dufresne Group, a multi-banner retailer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
About 20 showrooms are committed to taking part, including Superstyle Furniture and its sister companies, Trend-Line and Simmons Upholstery Canada; Edgewood Furniture and its sister companies, Brentwood and Campio; Sklar Peppler; Distinctive Designs; Décor-Rest; Perri Fine Furniture; Serta Toronto; Kingsdown Canada; Simmons Canada; Therapedic Toronto/Crown Design Upholstery; Geovin; Renwill; Via Furniture; Reflections Furniture; Jaymar; Berkline Canada; Korson Furniture; El Ran; Boca Rattan and Bogdon & Gross.
As many as 10 others are expected to sign on.
