McBrair, Hudson head Rhodes store divisions
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, April 24, 2005
Atlanta — Rhodes has named Jerry McBrair and Alan Hudson to head divisions for Southeastern stores previously led by Joel Lanham, who has left the company.
McBrair, former executive vice president of retail operations, president and chief operating officer of the defunct Breuners Home Furnishings Corp., was named Division 3 manager of Rhodes' 10 Atlanta stores, and units in Macon, Columbus and Augusta, Ga.
Hudson, with Rhodes since 1987, most recently as an area manager in Birmingham, Ala., was named Division 5 manager over stores in Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery, Ala., and Memphis and Chattanooga, Tenn.
In a memo to employees, Rhodes Executive Vice President Joel Dugan said McBrair has a "track record in both growth and consolidation environments and has established leadership experience in both publicly and privately held companies achieving bottom-line results."
Lanham was a long-time Rhodes employee and at one time was its president.
The Top 100 company also said that Pamela Wenc has joined the company as Division 1 manager of Rhodes' John M. Smyth's Homemakers stores in Chicago, replacing Mark Summerour, who left the company.
In addition, Kevin Sweeney was promoted to vice president of store operations for stores and warehouses.
Wenc previously was a regional manager for Lombard, Ill.-based Harlem Furniture. Sweeney, who reports to Rhodes CEO Steven Fishman, joined Rhodes in 1983 and most recently was director of operations.
Rhodes, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November, operates 64 stores. A 65th store is under construction in Charlotte Harbor, Fla., to replace a store destroyed last year by a hurricane.
