Magnussen revamps product management
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 24, 2005
High Point — Case goods and occasional importer Magnussen Home Furnishings has reorganized its product development and merchandising team, a move intended to help it hit targeted market segments, track emerging trends and meet retailer needs.
"Our merchandise/product managers are involved in every aspect of a product's life cycle," said Richard Olmeda, senior vice president. "With this comprehensive approach, the team will better understand the needs and opportunities of each offering from the retailers' point of view."
Olmeda heads the team. Nathan Cressman, director of merchandising, determines target markets, product style categories and retail price points, and reports to Olmeda.
Reporting to Cressman are Karen Knoch, merchandise manager for occasional tables/accents, and Pat Watson, who has been promoted to product development manager.
Jon Witteveen has been named merchandising coordinator for case goods and reports to Cressman. He will oversee details including costing and construction information for case goods, working with suppliers, designers and customers.
Brittany Vance, reporting to Knoch, has been named merchandising coordinator for accents and licensed collections. She will oversee production details for accents and licensed collections, and collaborate with suppliers, designers and customers.
The managers will work with retailers and the sales team to identify products and programs.
