Wes Powell, longtime sales rep
PITTSBURG, Calif. — A celebration of Wes Powell's life will take place here June 27 for family and friends of the longtime sales representative and retailer, who died earlier this year. He was 74.
Powell, a Navy veteran, was in the furniture industry for more than 50 years. He was a sales rep with Bassett Mirror Co. for eight years until his retirement last August, and earlier repped for Hyundai Furniture. Previously, he had worked in retail and was a store manager.
He lived in Antioch, Calif., most of his life and had moved to Dallas to be closer to his family.
Survivors include four daughters, a son, two sisters, a brother, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The celebration will take place at 3 p.m. June 27 in the Delta Hawaii Club House, 875 Stoneman Ave. in Pittsburg.
Elaine Feldman Herckis, retail veteran
ATLANTA — Furniture retailing veteran Elaine Feldman Herckis has died of multiple myeloma cancer. She was 64.
She and her husband, David, ran the Atlanta-based store Designer Furniture Source for more than 30 years.
Her involvement in the furniture industry was a family tradition. Her mother and late father, Carole and Irwin Feldman, ran four Ethan Allen Carriage House stores in the Atlanta area.
Elaine Herckis also served as president of the Auxiliary of the Jewish Home.
She is survived by her mother, husband, daughter, son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emory Winship Cancer Institute.
