Stainsafe of Canada out of business

Owes creditors about C$2 million, says trustee

Michael Knell -- Furniture Today, June 19, 2009

WHITBY, Ontario — Fabric protection supplier Stainsafe of Canada has gone bankrupt and is no longer operating, according to the trustee handling the case.

Stainsafe of Canada was a subsidiary of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based Stainsafe, which last year became part of Global Care Solutions. Calls to Global Care went unanswered.

In 2005, Stainsafe's Canadian marketing and sales operations were contracted by ProShield Canada, a company based in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

According to bankruptcy trustee Edward White, principal of the Toronto-based firm of Edward White & Associates, the company is not operating and owes its creditors approximately C$2 million.

"They haven't been carrying on business for several months now," he said.

At one time, Stainsafe was one of the dominant fabric protection suppliers in Canada, supplying both retailers and manufacturers.
