Mega recognizes eight top vendors

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, June 22, 2009

Mega Group recognized eight of its vendors partners for excellence in product and service at its conference and annual general meeting here.

"This provides us with an opportunity to recognize those suppliers who excel at their job," said Todd Smith, Mega's general merchandise manager.

More than 200 Mega retailers, and the buying group's credit department, are surveyed and asked to rate suppliers on quality service. This leads to a report card that ranks suppliers on their performance, said Smith.

By product category, the Supplier Recognition Awards went to:

  • Appliances: Whirlpool Canada

  • Bedding: Serta Canada

  • Upholstery: El Ran Furniture

  • Consumer Electronics: Samsung of Canada

  • Case goods: Ideal Furniture

  • Service: Phoenix AMD International

This year, Mega also added the new Genesis Award for Innovation to recognize innovative suppliers. The winners were bed frame manufacturer Julien Beaudoin and speciality sleep products source Natura World.
