Easter thanks Huntington supporters
Eric Easter, Former CEO, Huntington Furniture -- Furniture Today, June 22, 2009
As you know, (case goods importer) Huntington Furniture is no longer an independent entity. Bruce Frenzel, Huntington's senior vice president, and I had our positions eliminated as so often happens to the executive team in these situations. While we are disappointed at this turn of events, we do know that life moves forward and we will certainly again find success.
Bruce and I have been asked scores of times why this happened. We do not pretend to know all the reasons that the decision was made by our ownership and probably never will. So it goes.
What we do know is that we are so proud of what was accomplished at Huntington. We feel fortunate to have been part of a team that totally transformed a company from front to back, AND kept it on track and on the agreed-upon schedule for a complete turnaround. Our co-workers witnessed and embraced the metamorphosis. They clearly understood the vision and the viable market niche Huntington occupies. The same was true for our customers. They bought in, as evidenced by the additional placements and the strong market we again had this past April. They were our most ardent supporters.
The reason for this letter is to thank everyone for their support of Huntington. Our associates all worked incredibly hard and were so committed to our success. As I told the corporate staff in our last meeting, "We bent you more than we should but you never broke." This kind of commitment only occurs when the constituents believe in the vision and see the progress. Such was the case at Huntington. Our reps clearly understood our niche and told our story well. We thank them for their dedication and support. We will never forget this. And then there are our customers whose support and patience mattered more than all else. All we ever asked for was an opportunity and it was so often given. Thank you.
We had so much success at Huntington and sincerely wish the all the people and the company the best going forward. We hope the new management understands what a fine group of people they have — any company would feel fortunate to have them on their team.
The foundation for all our accomplishments was our wonderful people. Bruce and I are so proud of the difference our team made at Huntington.
Again, thanks to all and now it is time to move forward.
