DESTIN, Fla. — Don and Theresia Perkins of T.H. Perkins Furniture, Brookhaven, Miss., received the Retailer of the Year Award from the Southeastern Home Furnishings Assn. at the group's annual convention here earlier this month.

They were honored for their contributions to their community, humanity and the furniture industry. T.H. Perkins was started in 1887 by Don's great-grandfather, Thomas Hayes Perkins Sr.

The SEHFA also presented its Traveler of the Year award to manufacturer's representative Mark Bowen of Tupelo, Miss., in recognition of his high standard of professionalism. Bowen has been in the furniture business for 33 years and represents Magnussen Home, Philip Reinisch and Ultra Shield.

Also honored at the convention were Sealy, which received the President's Recognition Award for the company's longtime support of SEHFA, and outgoing SEHFA President Ralph Holley of Holley's Home Furnishings, Alexander City, Ala., who received the President's Award.
