Kids Today sets conference for June

Planned for Florida

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 19, 2005

HIGH POINT -- The 5th annual Kids Today conference will be held Wednesday, June 15, through Friday, June 17 at the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in Sanibel, Fla.

The conference rate is $695 per person and includes attendance, meals, entertainment and all conference materials. Kids Today will donate $50 from each registration to the non-profit organization K.I.D.S., Kids In Distressed Situations.

The registration fee does not include hotel accommodations; however, a special rate of $118 a night has been arranged, if reservations are made by May 16. In addition, the hotel has agreed to extend the rate to two days prior to the conference and two days following so attendees may take advantage of the location and plan a family trip.

"The fifth annual Kids Today conference takes on the theme 'Putting it all together,' and our agenda reflects that theme," said Jane Kitchen, editor of Kids Today. "We'll hear from experts like renowned author Maria Bailey, who will talk about the changing mom market, and industry expert Craig Yoe, who will get us all thinking creatively. Panels will showcase leaders in both retail and manufacturing, with a look at topics like successful independent specialty stores and how the Web is affecting us all these days. And this year, in celebration of our 5th anniversary, we'll take a look back at how the industry has changed over the past five years, and a look forward to what's in store in the next five. And of course, the Kids Today conference is always a great place for networking. Talking to your peers in the market will certainly help you 'put it all together.'"

This year's conference is also the site where the 3rd annual Kids Today Merchandising Leadership Award will be given out, an award that honors an industry veteran who has shown market leadership and innovation, and who has contributed significantly to the juvenile industry. Finalists for the award will be highlighted at the conference.
