Greensboro, N.C. — Veteran home furnishings fabric designer Tayo Onadein has joined JLA Fabrics and JLA Home, its cut-and-sew business, as vice president of design, a new position.
He most recently was vice president of design at American Century Home Fabrics, and earlier worked with Tietex, Burlington, Culp, Chromatex and Quaker.
In his new post, he reports to George Kerr, president of JLA Fabrics and executive vice president of JLA Home. Kerr and Onadein are responsible for product development for both divisions, primarily for jac-quard fabrics. The first jac-quard fabrics are expected to debut in July at Showtime in High Point.
"We are pursuing opportunities in fabrics for outdoors, contract and prints," said Kerr. The company has a design staff of 30 in China and three in Greensboro, he said.
No successor to Onadein has been named at American Century.
