Los Angeles — Morgan Fabrics, a family-owned converter of upholstery fabrics and cut-and-sewn fabrics, is expanding its staff and warehousing space to support growth in demand for its products.
Jennie Shafer has joined the company as executive vice president of design and marketing, a new position.
Three veteran sales professionals — Bob Gorman, Eddy Lutz and Jeff McGregor — also are new to Morgan.
Shafer is a design and marketing veteran who began her career as a designer at Fleetwood Motor Homes, then moved into sales at Mastercraft and Home Fabrics. She also held design and marketing positions with furniture manufacturers Golden Oaks and most recently RC Furniture.
Gorman, who will cover the Midwest, parts of Tennessee and Canada, is a 27-year textile sales veteran. For the past 25 years, he was a representative for Joan Fabrics and its Mastercraft, Home and Circa 1801/Doblin divisions, and Collins & Aikman Velvets.
Lutz will work with Morgan's established sales rep Mike Burch in the Morgan Fabrics showroom and office complex in Hickory, N.C., covering the Southeast. Most recently, Lutz spent 12 years as a sales rep for Burlington Inds. and Tietex Interiors, and previously was with Broyhill Furniture.
McGregor will work in Mississippi with established Morgan sales representative Lindsey Anderson. McGregor was most recently with LaFrance Inds. and previously was associated with the Main Street Textiles and Home Fabrics divisions of Joan Fabrics. He began his career at Lane Furniture.
Morgan Fabrics also has opened a 120,000-square-foot warehouse in Tupelo, Miss., to complement its existing warehouses in Hickory and Los Angeles. The Tupelo facility will stock more than three million yards of inventory.
Morgan Fabrics will show its new line at Summer Showtime in High Point, July 10–13, in the Suites at Market Square, Booth 1–1102. In addition, the showroom in Hickory is setting appointments for the week following Showtime.
David Young, executive vice president of sales and marketing, said Morgan is on track to reach annual revenues of $100 million in about 18 months.
