Universal leases big Vegas space

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 4, 2005

Case goods and upholstery importer Universal Furniture has signed a lease for a 26,000-square-foot space in Phase II of the World Market Center in Las Vegas.

The company showroom will be on the 14th floor of Building B, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2007.

For the inaugural Las Vegas show in July, Universal is one of the anchor tenants in the World Pavilions, with about 15,000 square feet of space in the tents adjacent to the WMC's Building A.

President and CEO Randy Chrisley said the decision to show in a temporary space until the showroom is ready is part of the company's commitment to its Western retailers. "We expect the World Market Center to become a top-flight venue for our business," he said.

Universal, along with Legacy Classic, is a division of Lacquer Craft, which makes its products in China. Lacquer Craft ranks No. 9 on Furniture/Today's latest listing of resources for the U.S. market, with 2004 furniture shipments of $411 million.
