Atlanta — Retailer Leath Furniture has promoted Jolene Takemura to vice president of merchandising and Ray Humphrey to upholstery buyer.
Takemura replaces Bruce Hartman, who resigned to pursue other interests. She reports to Leath CEO Ron Phillips.
She joined Leath as case goods buyer in 1997 and quickly became national merchandise manager. She will continue to buy case goods as well as direct merchandising efforts for Leath and its Modernage division.
Takemura came to Leath from Woodbury, N.Y.-based Seaman's Furniture, where she had worked since 1986.
Humphrey, who reports to Takemura, had been the buyer of bedding, sofa-sleepers, recliners and occasional furniture at Leath since 1997. Before joining the company, he was a buyer at Rich's, a Federated department store, since 1988.
Leath, based here, operates 21 stores in five Midwest states, and seven Modernage stores in Florida.
