SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Timber Products Co.'s Medford, Ore., facility, where its GreenT line of particleboard is manufactured, has earned Mixed Sources Chain of Custody authorization from the Forest Stewardship Council.Seven of Timber Products' nine U.S. manufacturing facilities are now FSC-certified.
"FSC-certified particleboard expands the menu of choices for our customers to order products that best fit their needs," said Roger Rutan, vice president. "Particleboard is a component of many other products, such as hardwood plywood and interior doors, so it must be flexible in its offerings.
"GreenT particleboard and door cores can meet any sustainable certification or building requirement, such as FSC, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase 2 formaldehyde standards."
Attaining FSC Mixed Sources Chain of Custody certification means Timber Products can manufacture its GreenT particleboard products using FSC-sourced wood, and then sell those panels under the organization's authorization stamp.
