BOSTON — Spring Air International, the new Spring Air entity aiming to relaunch the brand across the country, has named two key members of its management team.

Eric Spitzer, former chairman of the former Spring Air Co., has been named senior vice president and will focus on business development in the United States and with international licensees. He will be based in Chicago and will report to Rick Robinson, president of Spring Air International.

Bill Frame has joined the company as director of manufacturing services. He most recently was plant manager and led research and development for the former Spring Air. Frame will work with licensees on product development, leveraging and pooling best practices, and in developing and implementing quality assurance standards, the company said. He also reports to Robinson, who said both appointments position the company for growth.

"As we focus our efforts on a local licensee model Eric's experience as chairman during the most significant growth period in the company's history will prove invaluable to the new Spring Air International," Robinson said. "He brings a wealth of mattress industry knowledge, years of proven expertise and a valuable perspective on the company's history and development."

Robinson hailed Frame's "knowledge of mattress manufacturing, product development and design" and said his knowledge of information systems and technologies "will be a tremendous asset to every Spring Air licensee."

Spitzer was president and CEO of Slumberon Inds., a Chicago-based mattress producer, before becoming a Spring Air licensee in 1981. He was elected to the Spring Air board in 1995 and was named chairman in 2001. When the company reorganized in 2007, Spitzer remained during a transition period as vice president of national accounts and contract sales. He continued to consult for Spring Air in contract sales until the company closed last month.

Before his work with Spring Air, Frame was a plant manager for Serta in Boston from 2003 to 2006, and was superintendent at the Sealy factory in Orlando, Fla., from 2000 to 2003.
