Simmons to give away Beautyrest mattress in online contest

Simmons is calling the promotion "I REALLY WANT my Beautyrest mattress." Consumers can submit a video, or a photo and an essay, to the Web site contest.simmons.com. Consumers must make the case why they need a new Beautyrest mattress and a good night's sleep.
Contest submissions will be posted on the site for voting, and consumers can encourage their friends to vote for their submission. Each winner will receive a new Beautyrest mattress of their choice, with a retail value of up to $3,000.
The promotion runs through Sept. 30 and is designed to generate excitement about the Beautyrest brand this summer, Simmons officials said. Simmons said it will drive consumer participation in the contest through announcements on Facebook and Twitter.
"This promotion enables Simmons to interact with consumers on a new level thanks to its social media components," the company said. "Plus, it leverages the fact that many consumers start their mattress shopping process with online research."
Simmons said in-store promotional signage is available for retailers. In addition, the company said it will invite consumers to enter the contest through Simmons' e-mail newsletter and the Simmons and Beautyrest Web sites.
