Chicago furniture retailer sued for deceptive practices
Charged with cheating customers out of $62,000

CHICAGO — The operator of several Chicago-area furniture stores has been sued by the Illinois attorney general's office, which charges he cheated customers out of more than $62,000.Ziyad Suleiman, who has served time in federal prison for bank fraud, operated District Furniture, US Furniture, Express Furniture Gallery and Export Furniture between 2001 and this year, according to the suit and a report by Southtown Star, part of the Chicago Sun-Times News Group.
The suit alleges Suleiman failed to deliver furniture, delivered damaged goods and refused to give customers refunds. The state is seeking restitution and to bar Suleiman from selling furniture in the state. Click here for more.
