Matera, Italy — Italian leather upholstery manufacturer Nicoletti has introduced a wider offering out of its expanded China facility.
"We are offering a much more competitive program out of China than previously presented," said Tiziana Catalano, a U.S. sales manager. "We are adding 35 to 40 new styles to our Chinese-made collection with much more aggressive pricing."
Nicoletti has added capacity and employees at its 100,000-square-foot plant in Fuging, China. The plant now turns out 100 sets per day and has 150 workers trained on site by an Italian management team.
The introductions include a group of 85-inch promotional sofas covered in soft semi-aniline leathers starting at retails of $699. A collection of 91-inch sofas, also in semi-anilines, will start at $899 retail. These frames also are offered in sectional, motion and sofa-sleeper styles.
Nicoletti also is adding a series of transitional and traditional styles, available in a variety of coverings, covered in semi-aniline and thick leathers.
"The final result is a wide range of shapes, coverings and colors which have been well-researched in order to meet different customers' needs and with an excellent quality-price ratio," Catalano said.
About 95% of the China production is geared to U.S. accounts, said Gianni Tucci, also a U.S. sales manager. Nicoletti plans to open a second Chinese plant this year or early in 2006.
Nicoletti also continues to produce better goods at its facility in Matera.
