Monroe, Mich. — La-Z-Boy has named industry veteran Vernon Bigsby president of its Clayton Marcus upholstery unit.
Bigsby, who reports to Rodney England, president of La-Z-Boy's Non-Branded Upholstery Product, fills a post that had been held by Michael Delgatti, who left the company in May.
Most recently, Bigsby has been vice president of marketing for components supplier Leggett & Platt. Before that, he was president and CEO of upholstery manufacturer King Hickory Furniture. Earlier in his career, he started Motioncraft, a higher-end motion furniture producer later sold to Sherrill.
This will be his second stint at Clayton Marcus. From 1996 to 1998, Bigsby was the company's vice president of merchandising and marketing.
"Vernon has a long history in the furniture business with a strong track record," said England. "We are pleased to have such a high-caliber professional on our team and are confident he will build the Clayton Marcus brand and business."
