LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Visco-elastic bedding leader Tempur-Pedic has promoted longtime bedding executive Chris Henning to president of its retail division. He was previously the company's vice president of sales for the Western United States.
Henning succeeds David Fogg, a key architect of Tempur-Pedic’s rapid growth, who assumes the new role of senior vice president of national accounts. Fogg also will focus on developing Tempur-Pedic’s international business in the western hemisphere, the company said.
“Since Chris joined the company over three years ago, he has proven to be extremely valuable in helping to grow our retail business,” said Tom Bryant, Tempur-Pedic president. “His in-depth industry knowledge and dedication to customer service has consistently resulted in increased sales performance and development of the accounts and employees in his division. In taking on this new national role, Chris will continue the excellent progress that David has made in expanding our business throughout the U.S.”
Henning will oversee day-to-day operations of the retail division and will play a key role in strategy development for the retail division, which is the company’s fastest-growing sales channel. That division encompasses the retailers who sell Tempur-Pedic products. Direct-to-consumer sales, another important sales channel for Tempur-Pedic, are managed separately.
Tempur-Pedic said Henning will work closely with Fogg over the next few months as he moves into his new position.
Fogg remains an executive officer with Tempur-Pedic.
“David is a true example of how ingenuity, hard work and loyalty can build a company from a one-room office to a global industry leader,” said CEO Robert Trussell. “I can honestly say that Tempur-Pedic would not be the company it is today without the leadership and perseverance of David. I am happy he will continue to serve the company and his talents will be invaluable on the international side of the business.”
Fogg said that in his new post, he will spend more time with key customers.
Henning is an 18-year veteran of the bedding business.
