Retired furniture sales rep Jack Rabinovitch dies
‘Carload Jack' once sold goods by the boxcar

MONTREAL, Quebec — Jack Rabinovitch, a sales representative in Canada for more than 40 years, has died at the age of 96.Shortly after World War II, Rabinovitch sold case goods by the train carload, earning him the nickname "Carload Jack." By the 1960s, he had moved on to tractor-trailer loads. "He was a distributor before that term came to fruition," said his daughter, Jo Ann Rabinovitch.
He was a Canadian rep for manufacturers Vaughan-Bassett, National Mount Airy and Jasper Cabinet Co., among others, at times between 1975 and 2000.
He retired in 2000 as Jasper Cabinet's rep in Quebec. For 10 years of his career, he was Jasper's rep not only in Quebec but also in southern Florida and Puerto Rico, although he remained based in Canada. He spoke Spanish, Italian, French and a little Greek and Ukranian and was connected to furniture sources on three continents, Jo Ann Rabinovitch said.
Survivors include his daughter and a son.
