WMC to honor Vicente Wolf

LAS VEGAS — New York designer Vicente Wolf will be honored as a Design Icon by the World Market Center and the Las Vegas Design Center during the upcoming Las Vegas Market, Sept. 14-17.
The award salutes design legends and gives them a platform to share their stores and inspire and educate future designers, market officials said. Previous recipients were Roger Thomas, Vladimir Kagan and Larry Laslo.
House Beautiful has named Wolf one of the 10 most influential U.S. designers, and Interior Design magazine inducted him in its Designer Hall of Fame. His wide-ranging portfolio includes photography, art collecting, interior design and global travel.
He also is the author of “Learning to See” (Artisan, 2002) and “Crossing Boundaries: A Global Vision of Design” (Monacelli Press, 2006). A third book, tentatively titled “Lifting the Curtain on Design,” will be out next year.
A Design Icon market seminar, followed by a question-and-answer session, reception and book signing, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sept. 16 in Building B, 16th floor.
Wolf will discuss his experiences as an interior designer over the past 35 years and his insights on how design has evolved. His talk will focus on the inspiration he draws from travels and photography. He took the photos featured in “Crossing Boundaries” and his photography has been published in magazines.
Wolf also will participate in the “Ahead of the Curve” live Webcast from market at 8 a.m. Sept. 16, along with designers Timothy Corrigan and Laura Kirar and moderator Susanna Salk.
