Furniture gets spotlight on AmericasMart's 14th floor

By Jenny Heinzen York -- Furniture Today, July 20, 2009

AmericasMart officials cut the ribbon on the remodeled 14th floor of Building 1 to kick off the summer gift, rug and home furnishings market here July 8-15.

The new floor, formerly home to The Gardens, includes several showrooms featuring furniture, lighting and accessories. The Gardens area of outdoor living products is now in the West Wing of Building 2.

“This (new) floor defines our future,” said AmericasMart President Jeff Portman. “Home has been a significant part of our business for many years, and this really elevates it.”

Joining 14th-floor flagship exhibitor Century Furniture and its new 3,200-square-foot showroom were:

  • Chelsea House, expanded to 6,000 square feet.

  • Currey & Co., with 5,000 square feet of lighting and accessories.

  • Interlude Home, including seven home furnishings brands in its 2,500-square-foot showroom.

  • Ambella Home Collection, expanded to 8,200 square feet.

  • Jeanne Reed's Ltd., with 1,500 square feet.

  • Starbay USA, with nearly 1,000 square feet.

Other furniture and home accent exhibitors on the 14th floor included Foster's Point, Designs by Bree, Touch of France, Ashore Inc., No Mas!, Trowbridge Gallery, French Market Furniture, Tritter Feefer, Picture Source, Avala International, Adamo Home, Art Imaage, Port 68, W. King Ambler and Paul Robinson Fine Art.

The 14th floor provides a focal point to AmericasMart's 2 million square feet of home furnishings product, with nearly 100,000 square feet of home furnishings and accessories showrooms. Building 1 is now dedicated to home, with home furnishings temporaries on floor 2; the area rug center on 3 to 6; home furnishings temporaries on 7; home accents and fine linens on 9 and 10; home furnishings and accessories on 11 to 15, and the holiday, floral and home decor center on 16 through 20.
