At one golf event, the buying group's Ontario, Western and Atlantic Canada division hosted 160 executives from a variety of business sectors, including furniture, mattresses, appliances, consumer electronics and flooring. The event raised $10,000 for the Toronto and Central Ontario chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Over the past decade, Cantrex has donated a total of $120,000 to Make-A-Wish, an international charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases.
In early June, Cantrex's Quebec division held its annual golf day and raised $10,000 for Le Refuge des Jeunes de Montréal, a shelter helping distressed and homeless young men.
The Quebec tournament had 152 participants.
This year's tournament sponsors included Whirlpool, the Canadian Home Furnishings Market, Simmons Canada, the Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance, Tarkett, Electrolux/Frigidaire, JVC, GE Capital and Dumoulin.
