Zocalo donates furniture

San Francisco — Importer Zocalo has donated more than $17,000 worth of furniture, plus a few days to set it up, to renew and refresh the Women's Step House of Orange County, Calif.
The house in Laguna Hills, also known as the Ashland House because it's on Ashland Street, provides shelter and support to alcoholic women at several steps in the recovery process.
"The effects of alcoholism have touched many of our families. We feel fortunate to be part of the Ashland project and know that our efforts will help create a comfortable environment for women as they begin their lifelong recovery process," said Zocalo Marketing Director Danny Olivas.
The company also enlisted the help of other companies, including manufacturer Shamiana, which gave $1,000 worth of linens and pillows, and Living Spaces, a Southern California retailer, which donated $3,200 worth of mattresses. Watkins Shepard Trucking transported merchandise from San Francisco to Orange County.
Zocalo sent furniture for five bedrooms, the dining room and living room. Olivas went to Laguna Hills to set up the merchandise and spent two days with residents and volunteers to complete the project.
