130 marketgoers given free minor medical care
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 13, 2005
High Point — A total of 130 furniture market attendees received free minor medical care from a mobile health unit during the October market.
Cornerstone Health Care, the High Point-based physicians group that staffed the unit, said that represents a 19% increase from the April market.
James Anderson, a High Point physician who managed the project, said the patients were from 28 states, Puerto Rico and five foreign countries. The most common conditions treated were high blood pressure, seasonal allergies, sinus infections, bronchitis, sore throat and minor skin injuries.
Anderson said five patients with more serious conditions were referred to the emergency room at High Point Regional Hospital or to a Cornerstone specialist for further treatment.
The project was a joint effort involving Cornerstone, High Point Regional, which owns the mobile unit, and the International Home Furnishings Market Authority.
