L&P updates bedding components Web site

Offers product solutions, sales help

David Perry -- Furniture Today, July 30, 2009

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Leggett & Platt has revamped its bedding components Web site, LPBeddingComponents.com.

The company said the new site boasts a sharper and more modern design, paired with simplified site navigation for users. The content highlights products and key stories within L&P's bedding group.

"LPBeddingComponents.com was updated to provide our customers - bedding manufacturers and retailers - with the component, creative and technical solutions they need to stimulate their sales metrics," said Mark Quinn, group executive vice president of marketing for L&P's bedding division, who initiated the site overhaul late last year.

LPBeddingComponents.com was reconfigured with more than just navigation and customer service items in mind, officials said. Quinn believes that the bedding industry will prosper from an emotion-based sales method rather than simply selling on product and price point. The site content was revised to correspond with that approach.

For example, innerspring and box spring product descriptions have evolved beyond lists of specs and benefits. New product descriptions include not only component features, but also explain why these features translate into a better night's rest in "laymen's terms" so everyone from industry veterans to sleep-seeking consumers can understand, Quinn said.

To further link high-quality innerspring bedding components with healthy sleep benefits, the site features a Better Sleep page. The page outlines the negative effects of poor sleep on the mind and body, and stresses the importance of ergonomically engineered bedding sets. It also includes tips on how the average sleeper can get the best sleep possible.
