A blueprint for success
Ray Allegrezza, Editor in Chief -- Furniture Today, December 25, 2005
Welcome to the 2006 Retail Planning Guide. As with each of Furniture/Today's special issues, the objective of this report is to provide you with the critical information you need to grow your business.
The goal of this planning guide is to give you a recap of 2005 while pointing you to trends, statistics and issues that will better prepare you for success in 2006, whether you've just opened your first store or are a veteran retailer.
Realizing the business landscape can be a puzzle, I hope you use this year's guide to help you put all the pieces together in a way that makes sense, as well as dollars.
The planning guide again is organized in sections, one of which is an Economic Outlook segment. Here, we take a look at furniture and bedding sales by region and offer insights on what is or isn't fueling growth in various parts of the country.
Another key portion of the report is the Industry Outlook section. Here, we provide updates on the sales potential for many key product categories for the coming year, including case goods, occasional furniture, home office, home entertainment, stationary and motion upholstery, leather, youth furniture and more.
In addition to these nuts-and-bolts product category updates, the guide also offers insights into key styling and design trends.
To keep you up to date and in the loop, the Retail Planning Guide also provides a comprehensive calendar of key industry events in 2006.
Last, but certainly not least, this issue offers many of the rankings compiled by Furniture/Today in 2005, including the Top 100 U.S. furniture stores, the Top 25 U.S. retailers and the Top 25 sources for the U.S. market.
My hope is that you use this guide in much the same manner as an architect uses a blueprint. In this case, I encourage you to use it as your blueprint for continued success and growth in the New Year!
