Jack Walters Foster, industry veteran

HOUSTON — Jack Walters Foster, a retailer, designer, manufacturing executive and sales representative who worked in the industry for more than 40 years, has died. He was 81.
Foster started in the industry as the owner and operator of Interiors Inc., a furniture retailer and interior design firm in Houston, for 10 years. During that time he served as president of the Retail Furniture Assn. and was the first president of the Houston chapter of the National Society of Interior Designers.
Later, he was involved with retailer Stowers Furniture of Houston, worked in design and product development for Broyhill Furniture Inds. and was a merchandise manager for manufacturer Desoto Furniture. Walters then worked as an independent sales representative in south Texas for Broyhill, Athens and Peters-Revington until his retirement in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, three children, a niece, three grandchildren and a great nephew.
