GMHFRA salutes Harlem, Colder's

Rosemont, Ill. — Harlem Furniture and Colder's Furniture were honored as retailers of the year at the Greater Midwest Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.'s holiday and awards party here.
Accepting the award as Chicagoland retailer of the year for Lombard, Ill.-based Harlem was President Bruce Berman. Thomas Balistreri, senior vice president of merchandising, accepted for Colder's of West Allis, Wis., honored as the top Midwest retailer.
Jerry Divincen of Divincen's Home Furnishings, Plainfield, Ill., was named buyer of the year. The late David Darvin of Darvin Furniture, Orland Park, Ill., was honored posthumously as a Pillar of the Industry. Marty and Steve Darvin accepted on behalf of their father.
Don Belgrad of manufacturer Schnadig Furniture received the presidential award for service to the industry. Chapter President Arthur Serck made the presentation.
Named a Dean of IHFRA, the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn., was longtime chapter member Sherwin Rice. He was honored for exceptional service to the industry and the chapter.
About 250 members and guests attended the gala, which featured dinner and dancing.
