Valtekz debuts with high-end faux skins

High Point — Premium composite fabrics designed to look and feel like luxury hides, with the durability and easy cleaning properties of performance fabrics, and with an environmental- and animal-friendly story, are the specialty of Valtekz, a new company that debuted at Showtime here in December.
Positioned at the top of the market, Valtekz's introductions for spring included Celerie Kemble for Valtekz, a fashion-oriented collection of faux skins and exotic materials such as shagreen, parchment and rattlesnake with a chic, designer-oriented twist.
Also debuting was the Luxo collection of correlating patterns for indoor and outdoor use. Calfskin, ostrich, crocodile, snake, lizard and basketweave patterns are among the designs created by a vacuum-embossing process.
In addition, the outdoor patterns feature a nano-particle varnish that adds resistance to sunlight, oil and dirt.
The Valtekz line is sold by the roll in 54-inch widths, like traditional upholstery fabrics, and is manufactured in Germany and Asia of eco-friendly polyurethane and polyvinylchloride.
In Europe, Valtekz products are used by Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Valtekz fabrics exceed 100,000 double rubs in abrasion testing and are easily cleaned with soap and water.
Lines like Valtekz's are sometimes called "cruelty-free fabrics," giving added appeal for consumers who are uncomfortable with the use of natural leathers.
Valtekz's parent company is Valley Forge Fabrics, a supplier to the hospitality segment for 30 years.
