Kendrick joins Progressive
Jeff Linville -- Furniture Today, January 1, 2006
Claremont, N.C. — Dan Kendrick has joined Progressive Furniture as vice president for domestic products.
Kendrick, who previously was sales director for Bernards and for Hart Furniture, has years of experience in promotional furniture product development and sales. His new job will involve product development and merchandising for both the Progressive line and the more upscale Woodlands Designs.
Progressive primarily includes U.S.-made laminated furniture, while Woodlands Designs is an all-wood line made here as well as in Mexico and Asia.
Kendrick will oversee products made in Claremont, according to Dennis Ammons, Progressive president.
Kendrick is working with Tamara Evans, who joined the company earlier this year. Evans, vice president of occasional, entertainment and casual dining, previously was merchandise manager for Broyhill's accent furniture division and earlier was marketing manager for Higdon Furniture. She also works for both Progressive and Woodlands Designs.
Earlier this year Progressive, a subsidiary of ready-to-assemble sales leader Sauder, announced the purchase of importer Royal Patina to offer retailers "a much wider range of design options (and) greatly expanded marketing resources," said Ammons.
Royal Patina is run as a separate division within Progressive, and includes the revived Timberland collections that hit slightly better price points than Woodlands Designs.
Evans and Kendrick report to Jim Minmier, Progressive executive vice president of merchandising. Bill Rogers, the founder of Royal Patina, is the executive vice president for the Royal Patina division.
