Petition seeks bankruptcy for Global Care Solutions

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 17, 2009

A petition to force furniture protection provider Global Care Solutions into Chapter 7 bankruptcy has been filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Florida.

The action is sought by Doug Vunder of Broomfield, Colo., and Jackllana Associates of Morganville, N.J., both of whom claim they are owed sales commissions, and Innovative Chemical Technologies, a supplier located in Cartersville, Ga.

The total amount claimed is $142,460 — $52,000 to Vunder, $9,400 to Jackllana, and $81,060 to Innovative Chemical Technologies.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy forces a company to go into liquidation.

Numerous calls to the company, formed by the merger of Stainsafe and Multimaster last year, were not answered. It is not known whether the company is still operating.

In 2006, Global Care got an infusion of cash from Palm Beach Capital. A spokesperson for the investment company said it is no longer affiliated with Global Care. Global Care is still a partner with Uniters, an Italian company in the same business.

Global Care's provides products and support to home furnishings retailers that sell warranties to customers guaranteeing protection from stains, spills, tears, scratching and other mishaps to wood, fabric and leather. The company's customers include many Top 100 retailers.
