LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles furniture designer Reagan Hayes has launched a line of upper-end upholstery that will sell in some California stores and eventually roll out nationwide.

The signature line has been placed with boutique home furnishings stores in Santa Monica, San Francisco and Burlingame, Calif., and with designers. It also is sold on the designer's Web site, www.reaganhayes.com.

The collection includes four sofas, a chaise, five chairs and four dining chairs, available in 60 fabrics and more than a dozen stains and paints. It will be made in Los Angeles, with sofas available in customizable lengths. Delivery is scheduled for four weeks.

Sofa prices run around $5,000 retail, with chairs ranging from $2,900 to $3,300. Fabrics start at $25 per yard for

cotton twill and move up to $97 for a vintage velvet. Customers also can supply their own materials.

Options include down-wrapped cushions, gold and silver leaf, and five kinds of nail heads.

"I'm beyond excited to introduce this collection of upholstered furniture," said Hayes, who started her design career working on high-end residential and hospitality projects at Simeone Deary Design Group in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles to start her own firm. Hayes said her line is for customers who want "youthful elegance."

The company plans to roll out the collection to select retailers by region to keep the line exclusive, with a nationwide launch later in High Point and Las Vegas.
