Hickory, N.C. — Lee Hagood has joined furniture and bedding supplier Hickory Springs as director of information services. He will oversee the functions of two departments, information services and the JD Edwards Implementation Team.
A former employee of Georgia Pacific, Hagood has extensive experience in information service management. He also has worked on the installation and conversions of systems to the JD Edwards Enterprise One system.

Spring Air
Kansas City, Mo. — Bob Gerdes, a 27-year employee of the Spring Air Mattress Co., is retiring this month.
Gerdes' first job in the furniture industry was in 1964 at Wanek Furniture in Crete, Neb. Six years later, he and his wife, Marilyn, opened their first Sleep Shop in Lincoln, Neb.
In 1978, he went to work for Spring Air as a sales representative in Nebraska. He quickly became the sales manager for Spring Air in Denver, working for Dallas Yeargen.
In 1983, Gerdes moved to Salt Lake City to become the vice president of sales for Tom LeDuc, working with retailer R.C. Willey Home Furnishings. In 1994, he moved to Kansas City, Mo., to work for Larry Bannister.
In retirement, Gerdes plans to spend more time helping his wife at her Sleep Shop, McFrugals Mattress in Excelsior Springs, Mo., and directing charity organizations in Missouri.
