Levin receives 'green' award from Pa. group

Smithton, Pa. — Retailer Levin Furniture has received an environmental award from Citizens For Pennsylvania's Future.

The Green Power: Turn It On! award is given to individuals and organizations for promoting clean, renewable energy in the region.

Levin received the award in recognition of its efforts to incorporate renewable energy in the construction of its showroom in Monroeville, Pa. The store is equipped with a solar power system that provides 10% of its energy needs.

Because solar power reduces the need for electricity generated using fossil fuels, it reduces carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions.

"All of us at Levin Furniture are thrilled to receive a Green Power award from Penn Future," said Robert Levin, president of Levin Furniture. "We're committed to being responsible citizens in our community and that involves doing our share to protect our environment."
