3 seminars on tap for S.F. winter market

San Francisco — Several seminars are slated during the San Francisco Mart's winter show.
Mastering Color: The Art of Choosing Ideal Palettes is a trade-only presentation scheduled for 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.
Award-winning designer Joann Eckstut will tell how to determine a palette for a room by assessing the context in which a makeover or renovation occurs, and how to identify the mood or theme. She also will talk about emotional responses to specific colors, how color improves a room, how to incorporate color trends in design, and how various kinds of light influence the way a color is perceived. Admission is $10 for SFM members and $15 for non-members.
Business consultant Patrick Galvin will present two free, hour-long seminars during the winter show. Building Business with Buzz will teach attendees how to break through the commercial clutter and learn how to build business based on positive word-of-mouth, or "buzz," rather than expensive advertising. It will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.
In Beating the Competition with Stellar Customer Service, Galvin will tell how to succeed in the face of all the buying options customers have. It is slated for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.
Reservations are required for all three events. To RSVP, call (415) 437-7100 or e-mail seminars@sfmart.com. A check or credit card will guarantee a spot in Eckstut's seminar.
The San Francisco Mart will host the Winter Home Furnishings Market Feb. 2–5.
