Chapel Hill, N.C. — Fiber and yarn source American Fibers and Yarns is expanding its capacity and adding employees at its plant in Bainbridge, Ga., to meet increased demand for its products.
AF&Y said it will increase its fiber extrusion capacity by about 30% and its texturing capacity by about 25%, and will hire 25 to 30 people.
"We are a stable domestic supplier at a time when that is becoming a rare commodity," said Michael Apperson, president and CEO of the company, which produces Marquesa and Innova brands of synthetic yarns.
Apperson credits the company's success to its commitment "to using American technology and innovation to give our customers a competitive edge.
"That strategy is working, and the market is recognizing that our Marquesa and Innova brands are far superior to natural fibers and to competitive synthetic materials that do not possess our inherent high-performance characteristics," he said.
