Rio show plans kick-off gala Jan. 29
Gerri Hunt -- Furniture Today, January 15, 2006
Las Vegas — After its debut last summer at the Sands Expo & Convention Center, the Las Vegas Furniture Show has relocated to the Rio Pavilions.
The event will kick off on Sunday, Jan. 29, with a gala from 5 to 7 p.m. The show runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Monday, Jan. 30, through Thursday, Feb. 2, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.
"We couldn't get back into the Sands because of the days we selected (for the show)," said the event's director, Stephan Phelps of Triad Global Expositions. He plans to return to the Sands this summer.
Although the space at Rio is smaller than at the Sands, at least three new exhibitors have signed up for the show.
They are New Generations of McKenzie, Tenn.; Meadowbrook of Hickory Flat, Miss.; and La-Z-Boy division England Furniture of New Tazewell, Tenn.
The Las Vegas Furniture Show will offer free shuttle service to buyers and exhibitors.
Shuttles will run from major Strip hotels to the Rio for breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. daily. Shuttles to other major furniture market venues will run on the half-hour throughout the day until 7 p.m.
The Rio is at 3700 W. Flamingo Road. For more information on the show, visit www.lasvegasfurnitureshow.com or call Triad Global Expositions at (502) 458-7353.
