Outstanding rug designs to be honored Jan. 21 at Atlanta gala
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 16, 2006
Atlanta — The Magnificent Carpet Awards, the rug industry's highest tribute to design, will be presented at a gala on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta.
The all-industry event will include a floor show, called The Grand Mysterium, and is open to everyone at the International Rug Market, Jan. 18–22.
All entrants in the Magnificent Carpet Awards program will be displayed at AmericasMart's MOI: The Museum of Introductions, which serves as a global showcase of the newest in area rug design and innovation.
The rugs in the Magnificent Carpet Awards/MOI program are categorized based on price points in machine-made and hand-made constructions.
Three anonymous judges representing designers, major retailers and/or museum curators select the winning designs. Entries are judged on quality of construction, value, design and salability. The entries are not identified by company, so the judges make their selections based strictly on product.
Following judging, MOI will open to market attendees from Friday through Sunday, Jan. 20–22.
MOI is an industry exclusive, allowing buyers to see in a single location a multitude of new products from a broad spectrum of vendors.
Retailers who visit the MOI display will be able to vote on their favorite rug in the competition. The Most Popular rug award traditionally is the high point of the Magnificent Carpet Awards.
