Milliken
Spartanburg, S.C. — Roger Milliken has stepped down as CEO of the giant textile company Milliken, founded by his family 140 years ago. Milliken, who is 90, will continue as chairman of the company, which he has run since 1947.
Ashley Allen, who had been president and chief operating officer, became CEO on Jan. 1. Allen is the first person outside the Milliken family to head the company.

The Robert Allen Group
New York — William Schmidt has been named director of piece goods sales for fabric source The Robert Allen Group.
He joined Robert Allen last year as a piece goods sales representative in New England and the mid-Atlantic states. Before that, Schmidt was a sales rep for the Braemore division of P/Kaufmann.
A 20-year fabric industry veteran, he worked at Western Textile and for 16 years at Waverly, part of F. Schumacher & Co.
In his new post, Schmidt reports to Arthur Friedman, RAG's vice president of commercial sales.
The group designs and markets decorative fabrics and furnishings to the interior design trade under the Beacon Hill, Robert Allen, Robert Allen Contract, Robert Allen @ Home and Ametex brands.
