Area hotels reduce rates for April High Point Market
Amount of decrease not immediately clear

HIGH POINT — Market organizers here say 27 area hotels have reduced their room rates for the April market — a move they hope will begin to address one of the most frequent complaints registered by market attendees.
The size of the rate decreases wasn’t immediately clear, but the International Home Furnishings Market Authority praised the changes as “an excellent start” in its efforts to convince hotel operators to lower rates and reduce or eliminate restrictions such as length-of-stay requirements.
Approximately 110 hotel properties make rooms available to market attendees.
“We are dedicated to continuing our work to bring accommodation rates down throughout the Triad,” said Market Authority President Judy Mendenhall.
In addition to the rate reductions, she said 31 properties have maintained the same rate for the past several markets.
“We are encouraged by the results of this survey and the trend it profiles,” Mendenhall said.
According to the Market Authority, these hotels have reduced their rates for the April market:
High Point: Best Western, Biltmore Suites, Howard Johnson
Archdale: Comfort Inn, Fairfield Inn & Suites
Thomasville: Country Hearth Inn, Days Inn, Microtel
Burlington: Microtel
Kernersville: Dudley Inn
Winston-Salem: Comfort Suites Haines Mall, Hawthorne Inn, Holiday Inn Haines Mall, Innkeeper, Microtel
Greensboro: AmeriSuites, Best Western Airport, Best Western Wendover Plaza, Best Western Windsor Suites, Comfort Suites Airport, Holiday Inn Express (Lee Street), Marriott Downtown, Park Lane, Quality Inn & Suites, Ramada Inn Airport, Residence Inn, Wingate Inn
Specific information on individual hotels is available on the Market Authority Web site, www.highpointmarket.org.
